The Team

Our team consists of seasoned professionals from the worlds of technology, lending, commercial real estate, banking and investing, all working together to transform commercial real estate lending.

We are a diverse, inclusive group from all walks of life, speaking thirteen languages and active in a multitude of hobbies. We bring our institutional experience to Plum and are building it into a new national financial services brand as well as a fantastic place to come to work.


Bill Fisher

CEO & Founder

Bill is the visionary and leader of the company. Earlier in his career, Bill worked as an Executive Vice President with Wells Fargo Bank (NYSE: WFC), where he had responsibility for small business, retail and wealth management segments, including the $12 billion Northern California division. Subsequently, Bill was the founder and CEO of GetSmart.com, which was purchased by Barry Diller’s Interactive Corp (NASDAQ: IACI). Bill is also the co-founder and long-time partner of the Tiburon family of international seed funds, with 22 successful exits, including Trivago, Xing (XETRA: XING AG), Cadooz, and Localisten.de. In his spare time, Bill is an avid fly fisherman, travelling to epic lakes and streams to cast, catch and release.

Nick Brown

Nick Brown

Chief Operating Officer

Nick is responsible for investments, data science, marketing, technology, and human resources. Nick has broad experience in financial services, most recently as Head of Strategy at PineBridge Investments. Previously he was at AIG Investments as Chief Administrative Officer, first for real estate and then for alternatives. He has been a partner at McKinsey, Chief Operating Officer at two startups serving the real estate industry, and Chief Administrative Officer at Tishman Speyer. He started his career at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC). Nick has a degree in mathematics from Cambridge University and is a Chartered Accountant. He is an avid marathon runner, photographer and reader when he’s not at Plum.


Ajay Mangalam

Chief Data Scientist

Ajay manages the data science team which uses big data and artificial intelligence to gain valuable insights into the CRE market. Ajay has over 13 years of experience in the tech industry with a focus on big data analytics and building scalable, highly concurrent and fault tolerant systems. Prior to Plum, Ajay was part of the Text Analytics Platform at Thomson Reuters building the Search and Answer system. Ajay holds MS & BS degrees in Computer Science from the University of Florida and a Certificate in Quantitative Finance provided by FitchLearning. Ajay enjoys time with his family, running, scuba diving and reading.


Ben Gammell

VP Business Development

Ben is responsible for business development. Prior to joining Plum, Ben ran the residential mortgage operations at Social Finance, Inc. (SoFi) and grew the fledgling mortgage business into an established lending product of the company. Before SoFi, Ben worked at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking division covering technology, media and telecommunications companies. Ben holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance, from the University of Sydney. When not in the office Ben can be found skiing down snowy mountains or scuba diving in the tropics.

Christopher Zaki

Managing Director, Head of Capital Markets & Partnerships

Christopher leads the development of capital markets and partnership relationships. Prior to joining Plum, he was an Executive Director at UBS in Investment Banking, advising fintech and specialty finance clients. Before joining UBS, Christopher served as an executive in Corporate Strategy at NYSE Euronext, where he led many M&A and strategic efforts. Throughout his career, he has advised clients on $25 billion of M&A and capital markets transactions. Christopher graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Commerce.

Franklin Aguinaldo

Director of Engineering

Franklin manages the software engineering team, and the internal and external systems and infrastructure. He brings substantial software development skills to Plum with more than 10 years experience designing and developing enterprise applications and honing software applications. He was a senior software engineer, architect and development manager over the course of his career including work with SolarCity and Emerson Process Management. Franklin has seven Microsoft Certifications under his belt. He holds a BS in Computer Engineering and an MS Science in Computer Science from Mapua Institute of Technology, as well as an MS in IT from De La Salle University in the Philippines. Franklin is a runner and enjoys a lot of sports including basketball, badminton, table tennis and does hiking on the side. He enjoys time with his two year old son the most.


John (J.R.) Garibaldi

VP & General Counsel

J.R. oversees all legal and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Plum, J.R. was an attorney at Nixon Peabody LLP where he advised companies on a wide range of finance, corporate and commercial real estate transactions, including representing financial institutions and borrowers on over $3 billion in debt transactions. J.R. holds a J.D. from UC Hastings, College of Law, a B.A. from UCLA and is a licensed attorney and real estate broker in the state of California.


Paige Brooks

Director of HR

Paige oversees Human Resources including recruiting, employee engagement, and benefits administration. She brings over 15 years of HR experience, including heading up HR for several other start-ups. Paige has managed HR globally for several multi-national companies, handled the HR aspects of an IPO, and worked for Sony as their HR generalist for several incubated companies in the last tech boom. Paige is originally from Atlanta, GA, and graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. In her spare time, she enjoys racing sailboats, hiking, photography and cooking.


Shaw Yean Lim

VP of Finance & Operations

Shaw Yean Lim is responsible for optimizing finance strategy and business operations. Prior to Plum, Shaw spent six years at Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) in New York City on its trading floor designing cross-asset derivative products. Most recently, she originated and syndicated over twenty CLO deals, placing Morgan Stanley within top three in league tables. Shaw graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Management Science & Engineering.


Tom Gilliland

Chief Investment Officer

Tom leads the team responsible for originating, underwriting and closing loans. Tom has over a decade of commercial real estate lending experience and was most recently on the originations team at MidFirst Bank, one of the largest privately-held banks in the United States. Prior to that, he spent time at Regions Bank (NYSE:RF) where he gathered substantial construction lending experience. Tom began his career underwriting CMBS loans at Countrywide Commercial Real Estate Finance, Inc. Tom received his B.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma. Tom is an avid sportsman and enjoys soccer, tennis, basketball and watching OU win football games.

Aimee Williams

Data Analyst

At Plum, Aimee aggregates, analyzes and visualizes data to help Plum make better business decisions. Aimee is a graduate of Brown University, where she received her Bachelors degree in Economics. During her time at Brown, she was a research assistant on several of her professor’s studies and an Undergraduate Finance Board Representative, where she helped campus student groups with their budgets and allocated student funding. When she’s not working, Aimee enjoys spending her time painting, writing, and being out in nature.

Daniel Keenan

Associate Marketing Manager

Daniel creates content and manages distribution channels to communicate Plum’s brand and message. A writer with a degree in English Literature from University College Dublin, Ireland, an MBA from ITU in San Jose, and experience writing across multiple mediums, he mixes that famous Irish storytelling tradition with all things CRE and finance. Prior to Plum, he spent two and a half years reinventing ITU’s marketing and content strategy.

Danielle McCombs

Director of Underwriting and Closing

Danielle is responsible for managing the underwriting and closing process through working with borrowers, lenders, attorneys and third-party vendors. Danielle has 14 years of commercial real estate experience working on both the lender and debt brokerage side of the business. Most recently she spent over four years at Meridian Capital Group underwriting loans and placing debt totaling over $2.2 billion. Her career began at The Community Preservation Corporation, a small not-for-profit lender located in New York. Danielle graduated from the University of Delaware with a BA in Political Science and earned her Master’s Degree in Real Estate from New York University. Her hobbies include travel, exercising and wine tasting.


Eric Weiss

Manager, Partner and Client Relations

Eric manages Plum’s relationships with partner companies and guides clients through the commercial real estate financing process. Eric comes to Plum with more than 20 years of sales, marketing and business development experience. He has worked with startups, large corporations and government agencies. He has served as associate publisher for a national magazine and was Partnership Manager at eBay. Eric is a graduate of San Francisco State University and in his spare time he teaches English and communication skills to new immigrants. Eric enjoys swimming, playing tennis and is a die-hard fan of the San Francisco Giants.

Gopi Chitluri

Data Engineer

Gopi is responsible for building the data pipeline that performs data cleaning, transformation, merging, modeling, distribution and more. Prior to joining Plum, Gopi has had five years of experience working both small and large companies, developing applications using predominantly Java-related technologies. He earned a Bachelors degree in Information Technology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, and a Masters degree in Computer Science from Villanova University. His interests outside of work include travel, movies, trying new types of food and photography.

Husam Alrubaye

Senior Software UI Engineer

Husam is responsible for the look and feel of Plum’s web applications. He is an innovative and passionate UI/UX designer and developer with a high proficiency in scalable web development. Over the past six years, he has primarily worked for companies that specialize in enterprise web applications and mobile applications development. Husam is a self-taught engineer who prior to moving to the US, enrolled in major American universities’ online courses and took junior roles to get his start. Husam enjoys playing table tennis and soccer in his spare time.


Jennifer Feeney

Sales Operations Manager

Jennifer works closely with the Engineering and Commercial Real Estate teams, managing the critical online products that enhance the client experience.
Jennifer has eight years of sales and customer service experience, working in international education. She received a B.A. in Communication studies at San Francisco State University. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys immersing herself in the eclectic San Francisco culture, cooking new recipes, and hiking the beautiful Marin headlands.


Joe Zou

Senior Data Engineer

Joe is responsible for engineering, design, installation and start-up of automation systems. He has six years of experience working in the tech industry. Joe holds double BS degrees in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from University of California Berkley, and an MS in Computer Science from Northwestern University. He enjoys traveling, hiking, playing sports and photography.

Meredith Jordan

Associate Relationship Manager

Meredith is responsible for creating and growing lending relationships with commercial real estate owners. Prior to Plum, Meredith spent two years at Prudential Financial where she reviewed more than $6.7 billion of potential investments for various lending programs including CMBS, Prudential’s balance sheet, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. Meredith graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Real Estate Development. Meredith is a traveler and enjoys cooking when she’s home.


Steve Ross

Salesforce Developer/Administrator

Steve manages and implements business processes in the Salesforce platform and is responsible for the data pipeline between the commercial real estate and data science teams. Steve began his professional career building hardware and software and then worked in web application development. He has worked at Nortel Networks, Grass Valley Group, Telestream and Oracle, and most recently as a Salesforce consultant. Steve graduated from San Jose State with a BSCS. Steve enjoys sailing the bay, hiking, and taking care of his boat.


Torsten Galley

EVP, National Banking Division

Torsten originates loans for commercial real estate owners and works to grow our network of lending partners. He has over two decades of CRE lending and investment experience. After graduating in Banking and Marketing, Torsten started his career in Germany. He held various managerial and producer positions for major banks in Germany covering markets across Europe and the U.S. After moving to San Francisco, Torsten joined Wells Fargo’s (NYSE: WFC) real estate group in 2007 as Senior Relationship Manager where he originated and underwrote loans for REITs, developers and real estate investors. When he’s not helping CRE owners you may find him scaling a rock wall, hiking or traveling.


Nino Fanlo

Senior Advisor: Finance

Nino Fanlo, became the CFO of Human Longevity in July 2017. Immediately prior, he was SoFi’s CFO and President and brings over 30 years of experience in financial services and capital markets. Nino was the former CEO of KKR Financial (NYSE: KFN) and Executive Vice President and Treasurer of Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC). Before WFC, Nino was responsible for the Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities desk. Nino also had prior investment banking and asset management roles at Credit Suisse, MetLife and Australian Capital Equity, where he focused on CRE fixed income assets as well as capital raising and funding activities.

Preston Callicott

Senior Advisor: Technology

Preston is the CEO for Five Talent Software, Inc. and has over 36 years of experience in high-tech and consulting organizations. His career began at institutions including HP, AMD and Pricewaterhouse Management Consulting Services. Since 1990 he has been a founding member for over a dozen startups, including Hometown Commercial Capital. Preston has a broad knowledge of system architecture, database, coding, social media, web technologies, desktop, mobile, cloud and enterprise-level platforms.

Rob Grien

Senior Advisor: Finance

Rob Grien is Head of the Finance and Restructuring Advisory Group at TM Capital and has nearly 40 years of experience in finance. Rob was at Deerfield Capital Management as President of Deerfield Capital Corp. (NYSE- DFR), overseeing direct middle market lending. Earlier, Rob was at DLJ where he was Chief Credit Officer of the Investment Banking and Leveraged Finance Departments and Chairman of the Credit Commitment Committee. Rob is a graduate of Tulane University and has an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Michael Tannebaum

Senior Advisor: Finance

Michael Tannenbaum was the Chief Revenue Officer at SoFi where he ran the student loan, personal loan and mortgage businesses. Prior to that he was the VP of Finance and oversaw $1.3B of equity capital raising. Prior to SoFi, Michael worked at private equity firm Hellman & Friedman and in investment banking at J.P. Morgan. He recently joined an early stage fintech company in the payments space.
